Storybook Favorites
I enjoyed getting to read other student's stories! They were all creative and intriguing! I love animals, so I really enjoyed this ones that included animals!
One of my favorite was "Tales of the Watering Hole". I knew based on the title that I would be interested in this storybook. I read the introduction immediately satisfied when meerkats, my favorite animal, were mentioned. I also enjoyed the concept of the solar eclipse bring prey and predator together for legends! It felt fitting because there was just a solar eclipse a few days ago! I loved that the author used a common antagonist - the Jackal - to initiate the conversation between the animals. The layout of the Storybook was easy to navigate and the colors made me feel as though I was in the desert with the animals!
The next storybook I read was "The Kingdom of Love in a Lion Pride". I enjoyed seeing this layout, for it used the newer version of google blogger that I will be using. The picture watermarks helps add to the stories. I enjoyed that the author stated that she wanted to inspire his or her readers to feel a certain way. I have heard of cupid before, and I know a brief summary of his legend, but I still do not feel educated on the topic. It was nice to read the author's take on cupid's story and turn it into a story of love and passion. Lastly, I like how the author used a lot of color and contrast in the blog. It made the stories easy to read and locate where the began and ended. The author notes were a nice touch as well!
Finally, the "Nine Lives of a Cat - Falling Through Generations" was my favorite storybook. The idea is unique and genius! The lay out was inviting and the easiest to navigate. I liked that the author began the introduction with a quote and then began the story. The concept is very interesting and would be a fantastic book series where each book was a different live the cat lived! My favorite story was "Bastet" because it connected the other stories together and showed the author's creativity! I loved that the author added a "song recommendation" at the bottom of each page, as well as an author's note explaining the context.
After looking through many storybooks, I began to get excited to create my own! All these ideas are great, and I know I have high expectations, but I am excited to see what stories I can create!
